All Saints: A long and fascinating history
by Pat Tittemore
Before moving to Cochrane in 1980, I had lived for thirty years in Banff. Our church there was St. George's in the Pines, and I considered it a privilege to belong to that congregation, partly because of its long and colorful history. Many great and important people had worshiped there, and had donated beautiful artifacts to commemorate the occasions.
One of the first things I did on moving here to Cochrane was to visit All Saints church. Much to my surprise, that little church had a much longer and more fascinating history than St. George's, and I felt doubly blessed to have belonged to both.
I enjoyed attending the services at All Saints from the start, partly because I loved the little church building, and partly because of the welcoming and friendly atmosphere created by the members.
One of the first people I met was Frances Hill. She gave me my first taste of homemade Welsh cakes, and Cochrane hospitality, and to this day I consider her a very precious friend and mentor.
Now that we know the little old church has a good home, I look forward to the future in our new house of worship.
