Sunday School

by Joyce Archer

Over the years, Sunday School has been run by mothers and a few fathers, and supported by the whole parish.

When the number of children has been high, we have had four different groups, divided by age and school level. There's also been a Youth Group from time to time.

The age at which children started to participate in youth groups has varied from eleven to fourteen.

To help us design lessons we have used a variety of sources. Untilrecently we used The Whole People of God curriculum; for the last couple of years we have been using the Montessori-influenced program Young Children and Worship.

Whenever possible we try to co-ordinate our lesson with the Scripture stories being read in Church.

The highlight for the Sunday School year has been our Christmas pageant, and the picnics. Some of the best productions have been written and directed by the youth themselves.

Many times for our picnics, we have enjoyed the grounds at the Wildcat Gas Plant, west of Cochrane.

We have also enjoyed picnics at the hospitality of our parishioners.
