All Saints Campouts

by Jim Graham

Tom Ashton organized a number of fun Church Campouts during the years that David Asher, Bishop Ford and Richard Lemmon were our incumbents.

We camped at Bragg Creek, Kananaskis, and Waiparous in the family and group campgrounds. We had a great time with many of the young families joining the fun. Some of the campers were more seasoned than others. Others joined the Hunzikers, Ashtons, and Sines over the years.

The campouts were marked by great meals and games, fishing, hiking and general fun.

Many of the congregation joined the group for the outdoor church services.

Bruce Racicot was well known for his ability to get the kids going in ways that challenged well-meaning parents.

After one particularly cold night we all wondered how warm you would keep in the cab of a truck, as opposed to a tent and sleeping bag.

The campouts were good times that helped consolidate the friendship of many.

In 1985, David McGraw seems to have dropped his pick into the guitar. Surrounding him are Leigh Blackwell with a coffee in hand, Sharon McGraw with an unidentified baby, Peter Hunziker and Jean Blackwell helping Mrs. Hill sit down beside Mark Ashton, and Richard and Gladys Lemmon getting ready to sing.
