The Broatch Family
Judith Broatch Flendra in conversation with her sister Susan
We remember: Mum's love of the Ladies Guild. She really enjoyed the meetings, and all the preparation for the special occasions like Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter at the church.
Loaves and loaves of Mum's special 'round' bread for the bake sale, baked in 48oz. juice cans.
We remember Mum and Dad's being one of the first weddings held in the church after it was moved to Cochrane.
We used to joke that we would be finally going to church as a family when the United and Anglican churches joined (as was the talk many years ago).
Mum often would go to church with Edie Robinson. We often had a laugh as Dad always said, "Edie parks by ear"-since she sometimes bumped other cars as she parked!
Sometimes Dad was to pick Mum up after church, but he would be having a little snooze, and Mom would end up walking home!
Those are some of our memories. Mum so loved that church, and her many friends there.
The Broatches gave the church the coloured glass windows in the 1960s
